CHIP’s inputs into draft legislation on surrogacy

A group of interested actors, under the leadership of some federal deputies, is working on the drafting of reforms to the country’s Code of Civil and Family Procedures, in order to address and regulate – at least in general terms – surrogacy in the country. CHIP feels privileged to have been able to submit some inputs for reflection, with a view to strengthening the right to identity of children born through surrogacy, as well as prevent the sale of children in these contexts.

CHIP is grateful for the trust and looks forward to continue contributing to this process of legal reform, regulation and consultation, given the importancia of ensuring that this legal proposal fully complies with the rights of children as enshrined in the UNCRC as well as with the Verona Principles.
