Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine finds war crimes have been committed
Set up in March 2022, in conformity with this Council’s resolution 49/1, the Commission h visited 27 towns and settlements and has interviewed more than 150 victims and witnesses. They have “inspected sites of destruction, graves, places of detention and torture, as well as weapon remnants, and consulted a large number of documents and reports.” Among their findings, they have found the use of explosive weapons with wide area effects in civilian populated areas, children as young as four being raped, tortured, and unlawfully confined, as well as killed and injured in indiscriminate attacks. Child Identity Protection continues to advocate for all national and foreign entities to prioritise peace, safety and protection measures that uphold the personal integrity of all, especially children and that all children should be able to remain with or return to their families whenever it is in their best interest.
