Secretary of State for Child Protection announces the establishment of a ministerial commission to investigate illegal adoptions

During a public debate in the Senate on 15 December 2021, Adrien Taquet, Secretary of State for Child Protection officially announced the establishment, during the first half of 2022 a ministerial commission to investigate illegal adoptions and provide a response to those affected with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice. This decision echoes the recent media attention given to access to the origins of persons adopted in the context of illicit adoptions and the exchanges with various associations of adoptees. CHIP welcomes this initial step by the French government towards the recognition of these irregular situations and the beginning of a response to the needs of the victims. CHIP encourages the continuation of these initiatives so that people who have been deprived of their true identity can have it restored.
