UNHCR leads the establishment the new Global Alliance to end Statelessness
Throughout end 2022 and continuing into 2023, UNHCR with different partners is working towards the forging of a new Global Alliance to end Statelessness comprised of States, UN agencies, civil society, academics and stateless-led groups. Child Identity Protection (CHIP) was invited to be part of the civil society meeting in Turkey where it provided input in terms of ensuring children’s identity perspectives are captured in the vision, mission and key priorities of the Alliance. CHIP looks forward to working with UNHCR as it seeks to launch this initiative end 2023, building “on the concrete gains and momentum generated by the #IBelong Campaign to End Statelessness by 2024 and serve as a platform to increase collective advocacy efforts, catalyse political commitments to address the problem, and accelerate the implementation of concrete solutions to statelessness.”
